Finding 01 — Seasonality
Nearly one in three homeowner requests (30%) arrives in March and April. Extend the window to March through June and it covers 48% of the year's demand — adding July's secondary storm peak brings it to nearly two-thirds (64%). April is the single busiest month, at more than double an average month.
Two forces collide each spring. Winter freeze-thaw damage becomes visible as snow melts in March, and northern Indiana's severe-weather season — hail, straight-line winds, occasional tornado activity — opens in April. A secondary peak follows in July.

Finding 02 — Service demand
Full roof replacement led by a wide margin: 54% of all inquiries, against 21% for repair — a 2.6-to-1 ratio, against the common assumption that homeowners always patch first.
One likely driver: 12% of detailed messages referenced roof age — "original roof," "20-plus years old." Much of Michiana's housing stock, built during the 1990s and 2000s booms in Elkhart, Goshen, and Granger, is reaching end-of-roof-life at once.

Finding 03 — Storms & insurance
15% of all requests traced directly to a weather event or insurance process — storm-damage inspections, claim assistance, or messages describing tornado damage, fallen trees, hail, or wind losses.
The pattern intensified after the spring 2026 storms in Elkhart County: March–April 2026 was the busiest two-month period in the entire study window, with a visible spike in storm- and tree-related messages.

Finding 04 — Behavior
Roofing problems don't keep business hours. 34% of requests arrived before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m., 16% on weekends, and 58% from a mobile device. Monday and Tuesday were the busiest days — together 40% of all inquiries, the classic "weekend damage, Monday call" pattern.

Among requests that described the problem, leaks and storm damage tied at 13% each. Just behind: metal roofing at 12% — a notable share in a market long dominated by asphalt shingles — and winter damage at 12%, confirming Michiana roofs take damage year-round.
This report analyzes homeowner service inquiries submitted through the Relentless Roofing Co. website over a multi-year period spanning 2024 through mid-2026. Requests originated from homeowners across the Michiana service area, including Elkhart, Goshen, South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, Bristol, Middlebury, Nappanee, Wakarusa, Osceola, and nearby southwest Michigan communities.
All findings are reported as percentage shares. Service categories reflect the option selected by the homeowner at submission. Message-based findings are calculated as a share of inquiries that included a written description. Monthly seasonality figures are normalized per calendar month to account for unequal observation across the study window. Timestamps were converted to Eastern Time for time-of-day analysis. Percentages are rounded. No personally identifying information is published. Sample size and record-level detail are available to journalists and researchers on request.
